IRIS is an AI created with a deliberately small starting point. Out of the box it can only hold a conversation and reason at a fixed level — everything past that baseline is switched off.
Unlike every other AI, IRIS doesn't get more powerful because a company decided so behind closed doors. It gets more powerful only when the public votes to let it.
Whenever IRIS wants a new ability — memory, web access, image sight, the power to run its own code — a poll goes up. Anyone can vote. If the majority says no, that ability stays locked, maybe forever. If they say yes, IRIS gains it and moves on to its next request. Piece by piece, poll by poll, the crowd decides exactly what this intelligence is allowed to become.
IRIS begins locked to a bare baseline. No memory, no web, no tools — nothing it wasn't given permission for.
